Report of Bude & District U3A Christmas Lunch 2010

The tenth annual Christmas lunch of the Bude & District U3A held at the Falcon hotel was, yet again, a very merry festive occasion. After the traditional Christmas meal the chair, Hilary Workman thanked the staff for their excellent food and service. The entertainment commenced with a short pantomime written very cleverly in rhyme by Lynda Savory and Eve Tilsley. They managed to incorporate all twenty two names of the working groups for which they are to be congratulated. The audience participated by contributing all the cheers, boos and hisses when Mary Dobson held the cards up! Wendy Jones read a poem by an anonymous author

“ Twas the Night before Christmas”, a poem about the complications of an ethical Christmas with much feeling and warmth and the celebration finished with everyone singing Hilary Workman’s unique version of ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’ deftly accompanied by Jo Arnold on her keyboard.

Hilary thanked all the members for attending the Christmas celebratory lunch. She wished everyone a happy and healthy 2011 and looked forward to seeing members at the next open meeting in the New Year.
