Report of Bude & District U3A Christmas Lunch 2009
The Bude & District U3A annual Christmas lunch held in the Falcon hotel was, once again, a merry festive occasion. After the fine meal the chair, Sylvia Henry, thanked the staff for their excellent service. She thanked Audrey Armitage for her unique way of organising the numbers and other members who had given prizes and helped with the organising of the raffle.
The entertainment commenced with Kate Peardon reading one of her own poems entitled “Too sad for Christmas”. “Oh no we're not” we decided! Mary Dobson's play reading group did a 'spoof' on Cinderella which caused much merriment, especially as the members were told they were going to drop in on a normal session of a play reading!
Before finishing with Old Lang Syne the Singing for Fun group led the audience who joined with them in singing some favourite old songs which we all thoroughly enjoyed.
